Composition

The essence of Thierry Huillet's musical life is composition, which occupies an ever-increasing place in his universe, with a catalogue of some one hundred works, ranging from instrumental solos to large symphonic orchestras and vocal works.

Huillet's orchestral works have been commissioned and performed in numerous concerts: Le Petit Prince, concert for orchestra, Un Requiem pour 2 sopranos et cordes, Le Carnaval de la Forêt, Concerto Porteño, Fantaisie et Hymne sur le Se Canto. His works are regularly performed in leading festivals and concert halls around the world.

Numerous recordings of his works are available from Lelia Productions. Thierry Huillet is an associate professor at the Toulouse Conservatory and often gives masterclasses in various countries. He is often in demand as a jury member of international piano competitions.

Piano

Thierry Huillet won the First Grand Prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition in the United States in 1987. He was also a prizewinner in many other international competitions, including the Busoni International Piano Competition in 1985 and 1994 and the Tokyo International Piano Competition in 1989.

Intense years of study at the Conservatoire National de Paris helped shape his musical personality: studying with Pierre Sancan and Germaine Mounier, he also received valuable advice from Paul Badura-Skoda and Leon Fleischer during masterclasses.

Thierry Huillet has performed as a soloist with numerous symphony orchestras. He has recorded numerous CDs with his wife Clara Cernat; works by Enescu, Turina, Bloch, Liszt, Brahms, Saint-Saëns, Chausson and many others.
