The music
The tragedy that unfolded in Crans-Montana on January 1st 2026 caused a wave of dismay and confusion that spread far beyond our country's borders. Many families were affected by this disaster in one way or another.
The pain is immense and deeply upsetting.
In a joint effort to offer the public a moment of musical reflection in tribute to the victims and in support of their loved ones, emergency personnel, and healthcare workers, the City of Geneva, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Geneva University of Music, the Geneva Association of Oratorio Choirs, and the Geneva Competition are offering a free concert on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at Victoria Hall.
Under the direction of Valais conductor Anthony Fournier and with the participation of soprano Chelsea Zurflüh and baritone Stephan MacLeod, the artists will perform Fauré's Requiem , whose serenity and light will, we hope, help to ease some of the fear and sadness of the beginning of this year.
The concert is recorded and broadcast live by Léman Bleu.
