Family Concerts

The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is happy to offer families and young audiences special musical moments, so that the pleasure of a symphony concert can be passed on joyfully between generations.
Designed to be accessible from the age of 7, the Family Concerts are commented on, narrated or illustrated and offer an hour-long magical experience of the orchestra.
Family Concerts 2026-2027
A season of adventures!
Much like a good novel brimming with adventure, fantasy and a touch of magic, the Family Concerts series will reveal the orchestra’s best-kept secrets one by one as the season unfolds. Thanks to the English magicians Britten and Elgar, a breath of fresh air will sweep through the OSR’s musicians.
Then comes the undisputed master of the symphony, our dear Ludwig van B., who fascinates us all and whose 5th Symphony will be unravelled for us under the magical baton of Maestro Daniele Gatti.
La Fontaine and his Fables, brilliantly set to music by the brilliant Vladimir Cosma, are like those treats one never tires of and which will offer a sweet interlude before the frenzy of the end of the year.
Finally, in Zoopolis, a myriad of animals—some made famous by Saint-Saëns’s inimitable melodies, others straight from the essential Zélie-Chansons catalogue—which we will (re)discover and sing along to in unison.
And for those who can’t get enough, the Family+ concert invites you to board the Nabucco Express for a journey through some of the finest passages of Verdi’s masterpiece and to discover another facet of the OSR’s work: accompanying opera productions.

Age recommendation
Why from the age of 7?
A concert is a moment of discovery where one watches a work of art being performed live on stage. It requires particular attention, centred on listening. Our concerts are designed to help people of all ages discover the magic of live music, from chamber ensembles to symphony orchestras. Our experience leads us to programme our concerts for a variety of age groups, which are always indicated on our promotional materials. The age group recommendation is determined by the concert’s duration, the venue, the atmosphere and the musical programme. This recommendation therefore aims to ensure an enjoyable experience for every member of the audience.
Family Concerts take place at Victoria Hall and generally do not exceed one hour in duration. They offer a first taste of a ‘full-scale concert’. The child is able to sit still and remain quiet for the entire duration of the concert, listening to the commentary and/or the narration provided. They can discover ensembles ranging from 30 to over 100 musicians, depending on the occasion. The hall is very large and darkened, and the volume of the music can be intimidating.
