Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor

The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Tugan Sokhiev as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor. This initial three-season appointment will commence with the 2026–27 season. From the 2027–28 seasononwards, Tugan Sokhiev willspend six weeks per season in residence in Geneva.

The artistic relationship between the Orchestra and Tugan Sokhiev began in 2024 and has flourished through a series of memorable collaborations. Among the highlights was his acclaimed interpretation of Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 in October 2024. Following that concert, which earned the enthusiastic endorsement of the Orchestra’s musicians, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Foundation invited him to assume the position of Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor, reflecting the high regard in which his artistry, leadership and musical vision are held.

Alongside his conducting activities, Tugan Sokhiev will play an active role in shaping the Orchestra’s artistic direction, including participation in auditions and recruitment processes. Concert programmes and touring projects will be developed in close collaboration with the General Management and the Artistic Committee.

The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Foundation, the General Management and the entire staff of the Orchestra warmly welcome this collaboration and are delighted to embark on a new chapter in the Orchestra’s artistic development together with Tugan Sokhiev.
