Conductor in residency

Daniele Gatti

Season 2026/27 & 2027/28

This season marks the fifth year of collaboration between Daniele Gatti and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Building on this established relationship, the conductor and orchestra wanted to deepen their dialogue through a residency based on a regular four-week presence each year for the next three seasons.

To inaugurate this residency, Daniele Gatti proposes a complete cycle of Ludwig van Beethoven's symphonies, spread over two seasons. Symphonies Nos. 8 and 9, which will be performed under his baton in 2027/2028, will crown this journey.

This complete cycle, conducted in line with the work undertaken between the conductor and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, aims to offer a coherent and organic interpretation of Beethoven's universe, based on the continuity of an interpretative approach led by the same conductor throughout the cycle.

Preivous residences

Daniel Harding

Conductor in residency for the 2021-22 & 2022-23 seasons

The Fondation de l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande welcomes Daniel Harding as conductor in residence for the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons. He will conduct at least two concerts each season. The position, created in 2021, allows the musicians of the OSR and the conductor in residence to collaborate on various exceptional projects for a fixed period.

The collaboration between Harding and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande began in September 2020, when he was engaged to work with the orchestra on a short-term basis, with great success! Daniel Harding has recorded two discs with the OSR, including the violin concertos by J. Sibelius and S. Barber with violinist Renaud Capuçon.

Among other projects, Daniel Harding and the OSR have programmed literary works set to music (W. Shakespeare – J.W. von Goethe), recorded audiovisual productions alongside their concerts (the symphonic programme of a recently recorded disc includes Berlioz's ‘Scène d'Amour’ from Romeo and Juliet) and performed programmes outside Switzerland as part of the OSR's international outreach.
