News list

A series of sunset concerts in one of Geneva's most emblematic venues is once again on the horizon! The OSR will be taking advantage of the last rays of summer sunshine to take over the lawn at Genève-Plage. The 6th edition of the festival, to be held from 21 to 23 August 2025, will open as tradition now dictates with a classical evening on Thursday, continue with a film-concert on Friday and end in style with a jazz evening on Saturday, in tribute to Sinatra.

CLASSICAL - On Thursday 21 August, the OSR is delighted to welcome conductor Giuseppe Mengoli, whom we should have heard last year, and violinist Alexandra Conunova, who will be playing works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Franz Waxman and Jules Massenet. The programme opens with a piece by Louise Farrenc, at once majestic and expressive, revealing all the Romantic spirit of this long-ignored composer. The concert concludes in a climax with Émilie Mayer's Symphony No. 7 in F minor, with its dramatic force and poignant lyricism, testifying to the symphonic genius of this great 19th-century composer.

FILM CONCERT -  Friday 22 August sees the screening of Vincente Minnelli's famous musical An American in Paris. Written by George Gershwin, the music has been adapted for orchestra by Patrick Russ, and will be played live by the Orchestra, conducted by Ernst van Tiel.

JAZZ - On Saturday 23 August, singer Matt Dusk will be back to set the stage alight with Frank Sinatra's greatest hits, accompanied by the OSR jazz band, in arrangements specially created for the occasion by Alexandre Mastrangelo. An evening celebrating the best of American popular music!

See you on the lawn at Genève-Plage!
