Born in Rio de Janeiro, Christiane Jatahy is an author, director and filmmaker. She has degrees in theatre and journalism and a Master's degree in art and philosophy. Since 2003, her approach has been to confront various artistic genres. In exploring the relationship between theatre and film, she created Julia, an adaptation of Strindberg's Mademoiselle Julie, which has been presented and awarded at prestigious international festivals and European theatres.
In 2021, she will unveil Entre chien et loup at the Avignon Festival, a study of the mechanisms of fascism, based on Lars Von Trier's film Dogville, followed by a study of toxic machismo in Before the Sky Falls in October and another of slavery and its consequences on structural racism in Depois do silêncio. Christiane Jatahy is an associate artist in several theatres in Paris, Zurich, Boston and Milan.
