Percussionist, Gabriel Michaud is a complete musician with eclectic influences. He had the opportunity to perform at various festivals (La folle journée, festival Archipel, IPEA Shanghai, Salon-de-Provence, among others) in recitals or in chamber music, and with orchestras such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande or the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire.
In 2021, Gabriel won several prizes in solo competitions (Germany, Switzerland, Spain), then chamber music in 2022 (Luxembourg with the Trio Fragments). That same year, Gabriel won the 1st prize, the public prize as well as the press prize of the renowned international competition of TROMP Percussion Eindhoven.
Gabriel Michaud is also a composer. He writes for chamber music groups as well as electronic music within the rap collective Codex Dissident.
Born in France in 2003, Gabriel began percussion at the age of 7 in an associative music school before joining the conservatory of Nantes at the age of 11. Very invested in jazz music, he played in several groups during his years in Nantes, notably with the trio Tryptyk and the ODC 5tet. In 2020 he joined the Haute école de musique de Genève in percussion where he studied contemporary and orchestral repertoire, but also drums, tablas and composition. In September 2023, he begins a master of percussion at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
