
Born in Minsk, Ekaterina Semenchuk made her stage debut at the Mariinsky Theatre while continuing her studies at the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.
She is a regular in Verdi's repertoire and has distinguished herself in the roles of Azucena (Il Trovatore), Eboli (Don Carlos), Amneris (Aida), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) and the Princess of Bouillon (Adriana Lecouvreur). Beyond Verdi, she is known for her interpretations of Dido (Les Troyens), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana), Marina (Boris Godounov), Laura (La Gioconda), Lyubov (Mazeppa), Marfa (Khovanshchina), Dalila (Samson et Dalila), Giovanna Seymour (Anna Bolena), Preziosilla (La Forza del destino) and the title role of Carmen.
In recent years Ekaterina has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Opéra de Paris, the Teatro Real de Madrid, the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, the Salzburger Festspiele, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the San Francisco Opera, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and La Scala in Madrid.
