The four seasons of Buenos Aires (arrangement for string orchestra and solo violin)

SERGE PROKOFIEV

Symphony No. 1 in D major, op. 25, 'Classical'

WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART

Symphony No. 41 in C major KV 551, 'Jupiter'

The music

Arm yourself with a mirror to enjoy this string arrangement of Astor Piazzolla's Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, and notice the composer has meteorologically inverted the seasons for the southern hemisphere! Inspired by Vivaldi, these 4 Tangos describe the life of the "porteños" (the inhabitants of Buenos Aires) according to the four seasons. It is this same taste for disguise that inspired Prokofiev for his Classical Symphonywritten in 1918, which pays homage to Haydn and Mozart, whose Jupiter Symphony will brilliantly bring this concert to a close.
