The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and Jonathan Nott are proud to announce the release of a landmark recording dedicated to one of Switzerland’s foremost contemporary composers, Dieter Ammann. Issued on the Schweizer Fonogramm label, this album presents the first studio recording of the symphonic triptych Core — Turn — Boost alongside glut, capturing all the intensity and complexity of this internationally acclaimed music. Performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages in London, Berlin, Paris, Boston and Seoul, these works now receive their definitive audio reference. For Dieter Ammann, ‘the symphony orchestra is the most beautiful anachronism of our time’. It is precisely within this tension between tradition and bold modernity that his music takes shape.
Pierre Boulez, an admirer of Ammann’s work, once observed: “Ammann’s orchestral works form a synthesis of an improvisational habitus and meticulous care in their elaboration.” This duality – a seemingly spontaneous energy contained within a rigorously conceived structure – lends Ammann’s music a profoundly human, contemporary and authentic character.
With this world-premiere studio recording, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and its Music Director Jonathan Nott invite us to rediscover the symphonic genius of Dieter Ammann in all its unprecedented nuances, making this album an essential contribution to 21st-century symphonic repertoire.
