In May 1990 the Cascavelle label recorded Schelomo, Hebrew Rhapsody for cello and orchestra by Ernest Bloch at the Victoria Hall, with François Guye as soloist and the OSR conducted by Armin Jordan. The recording was made with the intention to complete the CD with an additional work, but alas, this opportunity did not present itself. Thanks to the RTS archives, the work is now supplemented by a wonderful concert version of Henri Dutilleux's "Tout un monde lointain", with the same soloist: one of those lesser-known but oh so beautiful works that Armin wanted the public to discover.
A fitting tribute to Armin Jordan, the CD (ref. VEL1620) will be released on 20 September. It will be available from that date at your local record store and can be ordered directly from the publisher at the special price of CHF 20, including postage, with an additional discount of CHF 5 for subscribers to OSR concerts, as well as for Friends of the OSR (a discount code will be provided directly by the OSR / Friends of the OSR).
