Juanjo Mena, one of Spain's most distinguished international conductors, is currently Principal Conductor of the May Festival in Cincinnati and Associate Director of the National Orchestra of Spain. From 2010 to 2018, he was Principal Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, after having held the same position with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. He was also Principal Guest Conductor of the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has collaborated with a large number of prestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Denmark and the Orchestre National de France, the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra of Milan, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zurich, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the leading orchestras of North America and Spain.
His recordings with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic have received critical acclaim.
