Born in 1981, David Fray was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in Jacques Rouvier's class. He then went on to perfect his skills in the class of Jacques Rouvier, but also in chamber music with Christian Ivaldi and Claire Désert. He participated in master classes with Dimitri Bashkirov, Menahem Pressler, Paul Badura-Skoda and Christoph Eschenbach. In Germany he received the young talent prize of the "Klavier Festival Ruhr" under the patronage of Pierre Boulez.

David Fray has collaborated with the most prestigious orchestras in Europe and the United States. He has been invited by the Cleveland and Boston Symphony Orchestras, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Hamburg NDR, the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and at the BBC Proms in London with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic.

In recital, he has appeared on many prestigious stages in Europe, America and Asia, including Paris, Zurich, Berlin, Hamburg, Turin, Rome, Barcelona, Vienna, New York (Carnegie Hall), the Wigmore Hall in London, Madrid and Munich. He is also a guest at festivals in Montpellier, La Roque d'Anthéron, Colmar, Saint-Denis, Bad Kissingen, Ruhr, Rheingau.

For the 2020-21 season, David Fray plays and conducts the Kammerorchester Wien-Berlin at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. He performs in Europe in solo recital or in duo with Renaud Capuçon, as well as with the Orchestre National de France, the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra or the Kammerakademie Potsdam.

David Fray is an exclusive artist with the Erato label, and released an album of Bach sonatas for violin and piano with Renaud Capuçon in March 2019.

David Fray is the founder and artistic director of the Festival "L'Offrande Musicale", which takes place in the summer in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
