Salle de Musique, La Chaux-de-Fonds

The Music Hall was inaugurated in June 1955 and the result exceeded all expectations. With its walnut panelling assembled using lutherie techniques, the 1187-seat hall quickly became a world reference thanks to its extraordinary acoustics.

Internationally renowned classical music artists such as Rostropovich, Rubinstein and Argrischy came to give concerts here, and the biggest record companies have been using it for prestigious recordings for over 60 years.

But the Music Room is not just an exceptional venue for classical music. It has also been embraced by companies in the workers' housing estate, who have used it since its creation for events of local or regional significance. — RTS
