This exceptional building, designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti, is part of a major urban development project in the city of Aix-en-Provence: Sextius-Mirabeau. The space of 20,000 m2 includes 6,000 terraces, 1,382 seats, 10 rehearsal rooms including one of 440 m2 and a modular pit that can accommodate up to 105 musicians. 

The Grand Théâtre offers more than 100 performances per year on average, welcomes artists in residence throughout the year (Orchestre Français des Jeunes, Les Siècles, Café Zimmermann...), and also opens its studios and its hall to the Festival d'Art lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence in May, June and July.
