The music

The history of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is closely linked to the region of the Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey festival; it was in Vevey that Ernest Ansermet, the founding conductor of the prestigious Geneva ensemble, was born. Now over a century since its creation, the OSR is still very much attached to the French repertoire dear to Ansermet. Under the direction of Jonathan Nott, the orchestra is joined by Fribourg-born singer Marie-Claude Chappuis, to allow us to hear the beautiful melodies of the Parisian Henri Duparc. The programme continues with the story of inner struggles and our quest for happiness in Arthur Honegger's Third Symphony.
