The music
Formerly attributed to Joseph Haydn and then Leopold Mozart, the Toy Symphony is said to be the work of the Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer, also the author of numerous Singspiele. The rest of our programme proposes three aspects of Mozart: hisjoie de vivre for the Oboe Concerto, his philosophical research behind the overture to The Magic Flute, and his perfect mastery of classical writing for the Symphony No. 40.
For this concert, the Argentine conductor, Leonardo García Alarcón, will replace Ton Koopman at the last minute for an identical program.
