The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is delighted to announce the appointment of Tugan Sokhiev as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor for an initial three-season term, starting in the 2026–27 season. From the 2027–2028 season onwards, he will conduct for six weeks per season.

The OSR's artistic relationship with Tugan Sokhiev began in 2024 and has grown stronger through their collaborations, notably during his acclaimed performance of Prokofiev's Fifth Symphony last October. Following this concert, which received high praise from the orchestra’s musicians, the Fondation de l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande offered him the position.

Alongside his conducting duties, Mr Sokhiev will contribute to artistic decisions, including participating in auditions for new musicians. He will develop his programmes and touring plans in close consultation with the General Management and the Artistic Committee.

The Foundation, the General Management, and the entire OSR staff look forward to this collaboration and the beginning of a new chapter in the orchestra’s artistic development.
