FRANK PETER ZIMMERMANN

01.04.2021

Artist in residence for the 2021-22 season

News list

For the OSR's 2021-22 season, Musical and Artistic Director Jonathan Nott is delighted to welcome the renowned German violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann as artist in residence!  Zimmermann will perform concerts for the three subscription series O, S and R and will also visit Lausanne for two concerts at the Salle Métropole.

Frank Peter Zimmermann gave his first concert with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande on 23 November 1992 and has collaborated with many of the orchestra's former musical directors, including Armin Jordan, William Steinberg, Marek Janowski and Kazuki Yamada, to name but a few.

During his visit, he will perform a number of well-loved works, including Schumann's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor and Brahms' Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major. He will also showcase more unusual discoveries such as Bartók's Rhapsody No. 1 for violin and orchestra and Martinů's Suite concertante for violin and orchestra. This creates a beautiful continuity with his previous appearances together with the OSR, which featured performances of Martinů's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in 2010 and Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra in 2004.

"I am really delighted and really happy to return three times with my friends from the orchestra and with my friend Jonathan Nott. I wish you a wonderful season. "
