Mathis Pellaux was born in Yverdon-les-Bains in 1996. He learns how to play the drums at the age of 11, and then takes up classical percussion at the Yverdon-les-Bains Conservatory.

At 14 he becomes the drummer of a pop-rock band. He learns the drums on his own before taking classes as part of his Master’s degree. After finishing his A levels at the Gymnase Auguste Piccard, he completes his military service as a member of the military band. He obtains his Bachelor’s degree in percussion at the HEMU in Lausanne (Haute Ecole de Musique) in June 2019, before moving to Bern in September where he completes his Master’s degree in performance at the Bern University of the Arts.

He enjoys exploring all styles of music from jazz to classical. He plays in several jazz, funk, salsa and Balkan music groups (Nolosé, Sneaky Funk Squad, Buena Vista Capital Club, Fanfare Balkanique Illimitée) and is regularly invited as a percussionist to play in professional orchestras such as the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, the Animato orchestra, the Théâtre Orchestre Bienne Soleure, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande for the 2022-2023 season to complete his DAS in orchestral practice. He is also an additional player in the OSR.
