Laurent Fouqueray began his musical studies in Le Mans, his hometown, and then went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where in 1994 he was awarded the First Prize. The following year, he was appointed Principal Bass Trombone of the Lyon National Opera Orchestra. In 2006, he was recruited by Lorin Maazel for the creation of the "Orchestra del Palau de la Reina Sofia" in Valencia, Spain, where he also played under the direction of Zubin Metha. In 2007, he returned to his position at the Lyon Opera but in 2009, he joined the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, where he has since held the position of Principal Bass Trombone.
