Catherine Soris Orban began her musical training at the age of 8 in Annecy, her home town. Her taste for low sounds led her directly to the viola. After her baccalaureat, she entered the Geneva Conservatory of Music in the class of Jean Vaullerin and obtained a diploma with honours and the special "Henri Brolliet" prize. She then entered the class of Ron Golan and received her virtuosity prize in 1987.

In the course of her studies, she perfected her skills with André Vauquet, principal viola at the OSR, Colette Lequien at the International Summer Academy in Nice and at the Bern Conservatory in the class of Henrik Crafoord.

She has been a member of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande since 1988. For ten years she was a member of the string sextet of the OSR. Passionate about chamber music, she is regularly asked to perform in various groups such as the Geneva Quartet.
