Principal Guest Conductor at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 2017, and Musical Director of the Rossini Festival in Wildbad – Belcanto Opera Festival since 2012, thanks to his original talent, Antonino Fogliani has quickly emerged as one of the most appreciated musicians of his generation at international level.

Following his acclaimed debut at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro in 2001, where he conducted Viaggio a Reims, Fogliani has conducted the most prestigious orchestras and has been on the podium of the most important theatres worldwide as Teatro alla Scala, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro San Carlo Napoli, Teatro alla Fenice Venezia, Teatro Comunale Bologna, Grand Theatre de Geneve, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, La Monnaie Bruxelles, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Musikkollegium Winterthur.

Some of his recordings include Donizetti’s Ugo, Conte di Parigi (Dynamic); Cimarosa’s Il Marito Disperato (Bongiovanni); Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Ciro in Babilonia, Mosè in Egitto, Semiramide,Guillaume Tell, and Otello; Vaccaj’s La sposa di Messina (Naxos); and Luca di Lammermoor (DVD Dynamic) and Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda (DVD Arthaus Musik).

Fogliani holds a degree in Disciplines of Music from the University of Bologna, a Piano degree from Bologna’s Conservatory, and a degree in Orchestra Conducting from Milan’s conservatory. He specialized at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena under Franco Donadoni and Ennio Morricone. Meeting Gianluigi Gelmetti in 1997 was an artistic turning point for his career as orchestra conductor, where he was able to act as his assistant in numerous productions and concerts. In 2018 President Sergio Mattarella honored him with the title of Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
