A fund for musical instruments to enhance the Orchestra's sound quality

The Association des Amis genevois de l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is looking for new sources of funding

News list

Two years after its creation, the fund for musical instruments of the Association des Amis genevois de l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande has proved that it meets a real need: providing its musicians with high-quality string instruments. Supported by a committee of specialists, the fund aims to create a collection of instruments that are difficult to acquire, given the considerable costs involved, and yet are essential for developing musical standards. With an increasing demand, the Association is looking for new sources of funding and hopes to be able to count on all music lovers, whether Friends of the OSR or not, to continue its work.

Thanks to the generosity of its members, the Association has been able to acquire 10 instruments since 2021 - three cellos, four bows, two violins and a viola. The musicians who have benefited from these purchases are full of praise for the quality of the instruments, which they say have enabled them to refine their sound considerably, to the benefit of themselves, their immediate neighbours and the public. The Association, the OSR Foundation, the musicians of the Orchestra and its musical and artistic director Jonathan Nott are deeply grateful.

The Association is launching an appeal for donations to further enhance the Orchestra's sound quality! Big or small, every donation counts!
