The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is delighted to announce its collaboration with the Festival Les Créatives for a concert on 13 November at the Victoria Hall. Part of a multi-disciplinary event highlighting the artistic and intellectual output of women and gender minorities, the concert aims to showcase and promote their talent in classical music. The programme will feature works by female composers from the 20th century to the present day, conducted by the OSR's new assistant conductor Zofia Kiniorska, alongside saxophonist Valentine Michaud.
In residence at the OSR this season, Valentine Michaud will perform the Swiss premiere of Glasslands, a concerto for saxophone and orchestra written by Anna Clyne, ‘a composer of uncommon gifts and unusual methods’, in the words of the New York Times. The concert will also feature two works by film music composer Sandrine Rudaz. A native of the canton of Valais, she has won numerous awards and records her scores with the best musicians in renowned studios, including the historic Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. In addition to these two composers, the programme will feature works by Mel Bonis, Augusta Holmès and Cécile Chaminade, French composers of the early 20th century.
