Born in 1997 in China, Zhelin pursued his bachelor degree at the University Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Christine Hoock. He then continued his studies for master degree in the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts with Prof. Božo Paradžik. In 2022 he studied at the “Hanns Eisler” Hochschule für Musik Berlin with Prof. Gunars Upatnieks.

During the season 2018-20, he took part in the Orchestral Academy of the Munich Philharmonic, playing under the baton of Valery Gergiev. He actively participated in several tours and had lessons regularly with the Principal bass Fora Baltacigil.

As a member of the German Youth Philharmonie from 2016 to 2022, he acted as the Principal bass in the South American tour under the baton of Jonathan Nott in 2018.

Zhelin earned serveral prizes such as the 3rd Prize at the International Anton Rubinstein competition in Düsserdorf and the 1st Prize at the International Johann-Matthias-Sperger Competition(Online Challenge).

He is a scholarship holder of the Rita Zimmermann Musik-Stiftung and won a scholarship at the Sir Ian Stoutzker Price as a finalist in 2019.

As a soloist Zhelin has played with the Philharmonie Baden-Baden in 2022, and received the special award from the chief conductor Pavel Baleff.

Zhelin joined the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in 2022.
