Born in Tokyo in 1980, Yumi Kubo graduated as a violinist from the Toho Gakuen High School of Music, with Shizuko Ishii, and then obtained a soloist's diploma from the Lausanne High School of Music in Pierre Amoyal's class. Yumi Kubo plays as a soloist at the Salzburg Mozarteum, Pablo Casals de Prades, Radio France, Aspen-Nagano, Hakuba and Sapporo festivals. She plays in duo with Pierre Amoyal as soloist of the Camerata de Lausanne, she participates in concerts in Europe, America and Asia. Yumi Kubo has been soloist with the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, the Osaka Century Orchestra and the Spiez Symphony Orchestra.

She joined the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in the 1st violin register in 2009.
