Matthieu Siegrist was born in 1981 into a family of musicians. At the age of 9, after two years of piano, he started playing the horn after hearing Hermann Baumann in concert.

At the age of 14, he entered the C.N.R. of Strasbourg in the class of Mr. Kevin Cleary, then, in 2002, the CNSM of Lyon, in the class of Messrs. Michel Garcin Marrou and Michel Molinaro. The teaching of Mr. Garcin Marrou, but also the meeting with David Guerrier, will awaken his interest for the ancient instruments.

After graduating from the CNSM in Lyon with honours in June 2006, Matthieu Siegrist was admitted to Claude Maury's natural horn class at the CNSM in Paris.

Since then, he has continued his career on the modern horn, frequently playing with the greatest orchestras, while perfecting his skills on various ancient horns, notably with the "Siècles" orchestra, conducted by François Xavier Roth, as well as the David Guerrier brass ensemble.

In September 2009, he passed the solo horn competition at the Geneva Chamber Orchestra.
