
Born in Bulgaria, Gergana Kusheva began her double bass studies at the age of 12. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire de Lausanne, where she obtained a teaching diploma, followed by a concert diploma with congratulations from the jury. In November 2007 she was admitted to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, before joining the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in 2008.
She has worked with conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Daniele Gatti, Armin Jordan, Valery Gergiev, Daniel Harding, Neeme Järvi, Marek Janowski and Jonathan Nott. She has performed as soloist with a number of orchestras and ensembles, including the Plovdiv Philharmonic (Bulgaria), the Sinfonietta de Lausanne and the Orchestre des Jeunes de Fribourg. For several years now, Gergana has also been pursuing her second musical passion, singing. After studying with mezzo-soprano Graziela Fierro, she decided to perfect her vocal skills by pursuing a Master's degree in Performance at the Kalaidos High School, where she will complete her studies in 2022.
She regularly takes part in chamber music projects with members of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, as a singer and double bass player. Gergana has future projects with the renowned Swiss quartet Sine Nomine.
Several of these concerts have been recorded and broadcast on RTS - Espace 2. As a singer, Gergana performs as a soloist with various choirs and orchestras in Switzerland, such as the Geneva Chamber Orchestra.
