Born into a Viennese theatre family, Christoph Waltz is an internationally acclaimed film and theatre star who has won two Oscars. He studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. He made his acting debut at the Theater an der Wien in 1977, before going on to appear at the Burgtheater in Vienna, theatres in Zurich, Cologne, Hamburg, Bochum and Frankfurt, and the Salzburg Festival. Since the start of his career, he has been known to the general public for his numerous television productions, but it was in Quentin Tarantino's films Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained that he gained international recognition. He then played James Bond's nemesis in Spectre and No Time to Die. He currently plays the lead role in the Amazon Prime series The Consultant. After Beethoven's Fidelio in Vienna and Verdi's Falstaff at the Flanders Opera, he will be reworking his production of Richard Strauss's The Knight of the Rose for the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
