Born in Moscow in 1992, Andrey Cholokyan studied oboe at the Gnessin School in Moscow. He continued his studies at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne with Jean-Louis Capezzali and at the Hochschule Luzern - Musik with Ivan Podyomov, between 2010 and 2016.
He has distinguished himself in numerous international competitions, including the Mravinsky International Oboe Competition (2nd prize, St Petersburg, Russia), the Swiss National Competition (1st prize, Riddes, Switzerland), the Moscow International Oboe Competition (1st prize, Moscow, Russia), and the ‘Sony’ International Oboe Competition (3rd prize, Tokyo, Japan).
Andrey Cholokyan works with several orchestras, including MusicAeterna, the Berner Symphonieorchester, the Basel Sinfonieorchester, the Philharmonia Zurich, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He has also been soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, and the Russian National Orchestra. Since August 2017, he has been substitute soloist with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.
He joins the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in September 2024 as substitute soloist.
