Temple du bas, Neuchâtel

The Temple du Bas is Neuchâtel's music hall. With a capacity of 700-800, depending on the configuration, it is used by classical orchestras and choirs, as well as jazz, variety and even rock ensembles. It can also be used for a variety of events, such as graduation ceremonies, welcoming newcomers to Neuchâtel, promotions, conferences and so on. The Temple du Bas was built in 1696 to plans drawn up by Joseph Humbert-Droz, following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, which brought many Huguenot refugees to Switzerland. Originally, this place of worship was known as Temple Neuf. It is one of the rare Reformed temples. Its renovation in 2020-2021 has greatly improved the conditions for the ensembles that perform there.
