In May 2023, Italian conductor Giuseppe Mengoli, 1^st prize winner of the 2023 Mahler Competition, joined the artistic team for the Orchestre national de France’s new production of La Bohème at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Having worked alongside Lorenzo Viotti in Lisbon preparing and conducting the Orquestra Gulbenkian with Schönberg’s Pelleas et Melisande, Mengoli assisted at the Utopia Orchestra’s productions. The 2023-24 season marks his debut with the Nederland Kamer Orchester and the Bamberger Symphoniker. Mengoli has also collaborated with the Orchestra RAI, the Orchestra dell'Arena di Verona, and the Orchestre symphonique SWR.

His conducting career began at the age of 19 when he took up the role of concertmaster in youth and professional orchestras. Since then he has worked with Oleg Caetani, Daniel Barenboim, Christoph König and John Axelrod, performing with orchestras such as the Real Orquestra Sinfonica de Sevilla, Opéra d'Oslo, La Verdi Milano, and Royal Opera House Covent Garden. In 2018, Mengoli made his conducting debut with the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester in Bad Schandau. During this time he also took on the role of concertmaster for the GMJO, as well as assistant conductor under Lorenzo Viotti in the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest and the Nederlandse Opera.

Winner of several international competitions as a violinist, Mengoli completed his violin studies with the distinction “cum Laude” and special mention. He also studied percussion, piano trumpet, and jazz, and is a skilled composer and arranger. Mengoli studied Orchestral Conducting at the HfM "Franz Liszt" Weimar under professors Nicolás Pasquet and Ekhart Wycik, where he regularly collaborates with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Weimar and the Jenaer Philharmonie.
