I am a conductor and music educator.

I have always sought to reconcile what are all too often seen as opposites: the pursuit of excellence and the drive for accessibility. I believe that music can be both breathtaking and welcoming, precise and generous.

​I grew up in a family where music was passed down as naturally as wine matures on the hillsides of Burgundy. From a very early age, I realised that it was not just the preserve of the initiated, but a shared language capable of connecting very different worlds.

​A wide range of experiences, sometimes polar opposites, have shaped my identity. They have taught me that music only has meaning if it can surprise and move those who expected nothing from it, often believing it was not for them — when in fact it is, fundamentally, a common good.

​This unique career path – spanning the roles of conductor, educator, researcher and arts facilitator – led me to the HEMU, where I have been teaching since 2014. There, I am developing music outreach as a discipline in its own right and preparing new generations of artists to approach their craft whilst taking into account the changing nature of our societies.

​In 2020, I co-founded ParteMus, an ensemble that embodies this vision: immersive concerts, performances for young people, ‘turnkey’ educational programmes for orchestras and festivals, digital initiatives… Everything I undertake pursues the same goal: to share music and open it up to new horizons.

​Today, my two sources – the HEMU and ParteMus – feed into one another. Teaching sheds light on creativity, whilst creativity enriches teaching. Together, they shape a shared conviction: music that is both demanding and accessible, vibrant and shared, finding its place wherever people come together.

​It is this approach, balancing high standards with accessibility, that leads me to collaborate with professional orchestras to devise innovative projects, and with the academic world to share ideas and experiences. I see this less as personal recognition than as confirmation: music outreach has become a necessity, and I am fortunate to be able to contribute to it in my own way.
