First invitation to the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande: 5 November 2020
Alexander Vedernikov completed his music studies at the Moscow Conservatory in 1990 and worked from 1988 to 1990 at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre in Moscow. He was Vladimir Fedosseïev's assistant and second conductor of the Moscow Radio Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra from 1988 to 1995. He is also one of the guest conductors of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, which was created in 2003.
He also established himself as Music Director and Conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre from 2001 to 2009. He conducted the Odense Symphony Orchestra from 2009 to 2018 before joining the Royal Danish Opera in September 2018 and becoming Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg) in January 2019.
Recent and future engagements include the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Spring and Birmingham City Festivals, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, the Irish Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and the Russian national symphony orchestras. We welcome his debut with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in the Final of the Geneva Competition on 5 November 2020.
