The Pedagogical Programme
The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande has been giving discovery workshops for a few years: school classes get familiar with instruments (strings, winds, woodwinds and percussions) thanks to an instrument fund, with the help of our musicians and our Youth manager. Such a success deserved to get our attention. Why wouldn't we go further and create a real three-part pedagogical programme : family concerts, the OSR and orchestra in class and the pedagogical path.
The positive results of a pilot project throughout season 2013-2014 enabled us to create a complete programme in season 2014-2015.
Here are the three parts of our pedagogical programme :
Part 1 : Family concerts. Five saturdays in season 2016-2017, children and their parents will gather at 10am or 4pm in the OSR's rehearsal room, salle Hans-Wilsdorf, for an activity based on Jeux d'enfants. Introduction, workshop, performance : everything for an entertaining musical moment with OSR musicians.
Part 2 will bring together the OSR and another existing ensemble : Orchestra in class. On Music Day, a few OSR musicians and Orchestra in class play together on the Victoria Hall's stage. This is an extraordinary and unique experience due to musical and pedagogical interests.
The third part is the pedagogical path : discovery of the OSR. Spread on 9 concerts over the season, 18 Canton de Genève primary and secondary classes will have the opportunity to see the Orchestra from inside : preparation in class with a pedagogical file designed for them, meet up with the conductor, soloists, musicians, and other persons working in different stage and administration jobs of the orchestra. Pupils will have the chance to attend a rehearsal in the Victoria Hall, take part in multiple workshops based on the concert's main themes (composition, body expression, plastic arts, discovery workshop, conducting etc.) and, of course, attend a concert with one of their parents.
